My husband and I first planned to sell our house back in September 2008, but, as most people are well aware, that’s the very same month when Wall Street imploded and the U.S. economy took a major hit. Since then we’ve recognized that the housing market isn’t what it used to be. With so many sellers competing for the attention of a few potential buyers, any little advantage helps.

We’ve taken the chance to undertake a few small home improvement projects, including a landscaping job from Redmond Landscaping that encompassed the rear lawn and garden. Noticing that browsers were stopping by to admire the house from a distance each evening, I put out some solar powered garden lights that would illuminate the space and make the landscaping work look even more attractive. In the last month or so we received a few serious offers, and it’s only a matter of time before we finally sell the place.

If you’re considering selling your home, it’s usually an exciting time. Whether you’re capitalizing on an investment or moving on to a better living situation, selling your home is always a time of change and hard work. Particularly if you’re looking to up the selling price of your home, it’s very likely that you’re considering undergoing some cosmetic fix-ups for the house. To that end, there’s nothing like a new paint job to make the house look fresh and new. It’s a minimal investment that can potentially yield a large return.

And if you’re looking to really implement changes in your home before selling, look into various landscaping options. Something like adding a pond can add elegance to any home as well as boost the sticker price. This requires more upfront cost, but it can also fetch you a considerably larger profit. Just make sure you implement algae control in ponds that you have put in. If they look scummy or dirty, these ponds could potentially hurt your asking price. Look into Bellevue landscaping for ideas on what to do.
