Driveway Landscaping
Author: GreenThumbs
What immediately drew us to our Redmond home was the privacy. It’s set far back from the road on a reasonably large tract of land. You’re not right up against the neighbors and people from the road can’t look into your kitchen. After spending most of our lives living in apartments and townhomes, my husband and I were ecstatic over having a bit of distance between us and our neighbors!
Unfortunately, whoever the builder was didn’t do much with the Redmond landscaping. A few bushes and trees were planted near the house, but the long driveway lacks any sort of color or interest. We recently hired a firm to spruce things up. The mock-ups they’ve shown us so far are stunning! They propose using a mixture of flower beds, bushes and miniature trees for coverage, and brick walkways to give our driveway and front yard some personality. I can’t wait to see how it turns out!
Landscape Budgeting
Author: GreenThumbs
Before the winter snow set in, I took photographs of my property. In the spring, I intend to have some work on my Kirkland landscaping. I have a fairly tight budget in mind, so I’ve been studying the photographs I took to determine which areas of the yard should receive attention.
Thus far, I’ve pinpointed three areas that need the most work. I’m budgeting approximately $900 for those improvements; although, in reality I’m actually allotting $1,000. I learned years ago that there are almost always project overruns, so it is important to have a 10 percent cushion, just in case.
Dream Garden

For years, my husband and I scrimped and saved so that we could purchase our dream home. An equally important part of the home, at least for me, is the garden area. I love to cook and having an herb and vegetable garden I can pluck fresh produce is wonderful.
While I’ve assisted in community gardens, I didn’t know how to plant a garden on a large scale. Our home has a vast outdoor area – one of the features that attracted us to the property – so I knew that I needed help. I called on a Kirkland landscaping company that was recommended by a friend. They showed me how to lay-out not only my vegetable and herb patch, but also seasonal flowerbeds. Now my dream home is accompanied by a dream garden!
