For starters, the previous owners had attempted to soften the look of the long drive by adding small plants along the edges. Unfortunately, most of the plants didn’t take so it looked like the driveway was lined by patches of weeds. Second, there was absolutely zero lighting which made going up the drive late at night pretty dangerous.

In an effort to remedy these issues, we hired a landscape architect. They were able to devise a plan involving local flowers and shrubbery to fill out and soften the landscaping up the driveway. They also had a Bellevue landscape lighting expert whose suggestions have made our long driveway safer and easier to navigate on dark nights.

I started by drawing our yard and house as they looked before any renovations took place. Then, I sketched out ideas of how I wanted the yard to look after landscaping was complete.

I’m not a plant expert; I’ve never worked on a landscaping crew, so I decided to hire an expert. I showed them my sketches and they worked with me and showed me some ideas from other Bellevue landscape designs. They explained the different types of plants that would work well and what the budget would be overall. I really appreciated how well they listened to my ideas and didn’t dismiss my sketches simply because I’m not an expert.

I love outdoor cooking. For one, it keeps the mess out of the kitchen. If a few crumbs fall on the ground I can just leave them for the birds to peck on.

Given how much time I spend cooking outdoors in the summer, my husband and I decided it would be worth the money to have a proper outdoor kitchen installed. We spoke with a Bellevue outdoor kitchens expert who drew up some wonderful plans. We selected a gorgeous plan that includes a large professional-grade grill, wide counter tops, and a long bar with plenty of seating.

It’s as if Mother Nature took a look at the calendar, saw the first day of spring marked as March 20th, and decided “okay, I’ll give you guys some reprieve.” The sunny weather has started me thinking about summer yard projects.

One task I really want completed is installing an outdoor fireplace. My family practically lives outdoors during the summer months, but it can get a little chilly at night. I’m now on the hunt for a Bellevue outdoor fireplaces specialist who can find and install the best fireplace for our property.

It’s set far back from the road on a reasonably large tract of land. You’re not right up against the neighbors and people from the road can’t look into your kitchen. After spending most of our lives living in apartments and townhomes, my husband and I were ecstatic over having a bit of distance between us and our neighbors!

Unfortunately, whoever the builder was didn’t do much with the Redmond landscaping. A few bushes and trees were planted near the house, but the long driveway lacks any sort of color or interest. We recently hired a firm to spruce things up. The mock-ups they’ve shown us so far are stunning! They propose using a mixture of flower beds, bushes and miniature trees for coverage, and brick walkways to give our driveway and front yard some personality. I can’t wait to see how it turns out!

In the spring, I intend to have some work on my Kirkland landscaping. I have a fairly tight budget in mind, so I’ve been studying the photographs I took to determine which areas of the yard should receive attention.

Thus far, I’ve pinpointed three areas that need the most work. I’m budgeting approximately $900 for those improvements; although, in reality I’m actually allotting $1,000. I learned years ago that there are almost always project overruns, so it is important to have a 10 percent cushion, just in case.

An equally important part of the home, at least for me, is the garden area. I love to cook and having an herb and vegetable garden I can pluck fresh produce is wonderful.

While I’ve assisted in community gardens, I didn’t know how to plant a garden on a large scale. Our home has a vast outdoor area – one of the features that attracted us to the property – so I knew that I needed help. I called on a Kirkland landscaping company that was recommended by a friend. They showed me how to lay-out not only my vegetable and herb patch, but also seasonal flowerbeds. Now my dream home is accompanied by a dream garden!

For the past year we’ve been fixing up the indoors. We had to re-do the plumbing and electrical, not to mention lots of cosmetic work to make the house feel like a home.

Now that the interior of our home looks the way we want it to, it’s time to turn our attention outward. I’m tired of looking at drab trees and misshapen flower beds filled with weeds. Starting tomorrow, my husband and I will begin researching in earnest Bellevue landscaping companies that can make our yard as inviting as our home’s interior.

We get along really well with our neighbors on either side of us in our Redmond house. Still, we wanted to create more of a private, intimate space in our backyard.

We explained this to our landscape designer and she assured us that we could use various plantings to block our backyard from view. The Redmond landscaping solutions she came up with were incredible. The flowering plants and trees she guided us to give us plenty of privacy without screaming “do not enter” in the same manner a six foot tall fence would. After all, we do want our neighbors to visit our backyard sometimes, just not all the time.

All that time and effort they apply to cultivating colorful blossoms and blooms pays off when a friend or family member pays the garden a compliment. But for the longest time those with green thumbs were unable to display their talents at night without running up the electrical bill.

Now, thanks to solar landscape lights, the flowers can be the star of the show at night as well as during the day. Such lights can be placed strategically among the foliage in order to draw the eye from one plant to the next. This provides a sense of organization and artistry. There’s no reason to wait until dawn to delight in the sight of your flowers when solar lights are now so practical. Kirkland landscaping can assist you with lighting ideas for your garden.
